Ninja Escape 2D is an endless platformer that keeps its demands narrow and its pace high. You jump across an unbroken sequence of platforms, dodging the obstacles placed along them and collecting coins as you go, with deadly blades scattered through the route as the thing most likely to end a run. Because it is endless there is no destination, only a score, which puts the emphasis on consistency rather than on clearing a particular section. The challenges change dynamically as you progress rather than repeating a fixed pattern, so a run cannot be memorised — the ninja escape has to be improvised each time, which is what keeps it worth restarting.
