About Space Rover

Space Rover gives you a six-wheeled rover and six real places to drive it: Earth's Pacific Highlands, the Moon's Sea of Tranquility and crater fields, the Valles Marineris and red desert of Mars, Ishtar Terra on Venus, Jupiter's volcanic moon Io and its sulfur plains, and the methane lakes of Titan. Each is built as its own alien terrain with rocks and obstacles to dodge, and the goal on every one is to reach the landing zone as fast as you can. What makes it exploration rather than a straight race is that the ground itself is the interesting part — a rover on volcanic rock behaves differently from one on a crater field, and reading the surface is the skill.

How to Play

Drive with W or the up arrow, brake and reverse with S or the down arrow, and steer with A and D. Shift engages the nitro boost and Space is a brake lock. Press C to switch camera and R to reset the rover if it ends up somewhere it cannot recover from. Reach the landing zone on each course.

Controls

Keyboard
  • S / Down Arrow — brake
  • Spacebar for action
  • Shift to dash

Tips & Tricks

Use the camera switch on unfamiliar terrain — a different angle tells you far more about a slope than speed does. Save the boost for flat stretches, since taking a rock at speed is what puts a rover on its roof. The reset key is there to be used rather than fought against.
