About Astral Escape

Astral Escape opens at the moment most games would end. The astronaut has survived the enemy and reached the door to the mother ship — and found it locked. Everything that follows is the lock itself, which consists of several puzzles that have to be solved in turn to open it. The mechanic is rotation: you turn pieces until an arrangement resolves, which makes it a spatial problem rather than a logical deduction. The framing is what gives it weight, because there is somebody on the other side of the puzzle who does not get home until you finish it. A compact, focused game that knows exactly how much premise it needs.

How to Play

Rotate the pieces of each puzzle to solve it. Work through the several puzzles that make up the lock on the mother ship's door, one after another, to unlock it and get the astronaut safely aboard.

Tips & Tricks

Fix one piece you are confident about and rotate everything around it rather than turning several at once. Look at the edges of an arrangement first, since those have the fewest valid orientations. Step back and look at the whole shape when a section stops making sense.
