About Oddball Detective

Oddball Detective is an observation game with a single rule: in each scene, identify the element that does not belong. That premise sounds thin and turns out not to be, because what counts as out of place shifts from level to level — sometimes it is an object in the wrong era, sometimes something physically impossible, sometimes just a detail that contradicts the rest of the picture. So you are not only looking, you are working out what kind of wrongness this particular scene is hiding. The scenes are varied enough to keep the exercise fresh, and it draws on general knowledge as much as on eyesight. A quiet, unhurried puzzle that suits short sessions well.

How to Play

Use a mouse or touchpad to play. Look carefully at each scene and find the one element that is out of place, then click on it. Scenes vary, so the kind of thing that does not belong changes from level to level.

Tips & Tricks

Decide what the scene is supposed to be before hunting for the error, since the odd element is defined by that context. Scan the background as carefully as the foreground — the obvious subject is rarely where the answer hides. If nothing looks wrong, look for something that is right in the wrong place.
